Introduction of Traditional and Complementary Medicine Council Section

In line with the establishment of the Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM) Council on January 16, 2017, the T&CM Council Section(CMPTK) led by the Secretary of the T&CM Council was established to assist the T&CM Council to carry out its functions.

 

There are 3 units in CMPTK ;

  1. Registration Unit
  2. Standard and Accreditation Unit
  3. Disciplinary and Ethics Unit

 

The functions of each unit in the Traditional and Complementary Medicine Council Section are as follows:

 

1. Registration and Certification Unit

  • To plan and determine requirements for the registration of T&CM practitioners.
  • To process registration applications by local and foreign T&CM practitioners.
  • To process and issue Registered Practitioner Certificates, Registered Practitioner's Practising Certificates and Temporary Practising Certificates to registered practitioners.
  • To verify qualifications of foreign T&CM practitioners and assistant practitioners for the purpose of employment pass application from Immigration Department of Malaysia for T&CM positions in recognised practise areas.
  • To disseminate feedback related to enforcement of the T&CM Act 2016 (Act 775).
  • To operate and maintain the e-Pengamal online system for the purpose of T&CM practitioner registration.
  • To develop and maintain T&CM practitioner registers on behalf of the T&CM Council.

 

2. Standard and Accreditation Unit

  • To plan and conduct the development and review of programme standards for T&CM education programmes.
  • To conduct accreditation assessment for academic programmes in T&CM.
  • To monitor and update the list of qualifications and recognised institutions (local and foreign) for the purpose of practitioner registration under the T&CM Act 2016.
  • To plan and conduct the development of modules and implementation of training for T&CM practitioners based on the requirements of the T&CM Act 2016.

 

3. Disciplinary and Ethics Unit

  • To handle matters related to disciplinary action involving registered Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM) practitioners.
  • To plan for matters related to professional conduct of registered T&CM practitioners including penalties based on the Code of Professional Conduct for T&CM Practitioners.
  • To develop and manage matters related to Regulations and Gazettement under Act 775
  • To conduct T&CM Council Meetings
