Introduction of Traditional and Complementary Medicine Practices Section 

The Traditional and Complementary Medicine (T&CM) Practice Section is one of 6 sections under the T&CM Division, Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH). This section consists of two units namely the Practice Development Unit and the Practice Evaluation Unit

 

The functions of each unit in the Traditional and Complementary Medicine Practices Section are as follows:

1. Practice Development Unit

  • Develop and/or revise T&CM Practice Guidelines for practices that are offered at MOH health care facilities
  • Plan, coordinate and conduct activities/collaborations relating to T&CM research at MOH health care facilities
  • Plan and coordinate applications for health technology assessments for topics related to T&CM
  • Conduct critical appraisal of T&CM related research papers particularly on modalities offered at T&CM Units

 

2. Practice Evaluation Unit

  • Conduct T&CM practice evaluation for the purpose of recognition under T&CM Act 2016
  • Conduct evaluation of proposal on T&CM practice
  • Coordinate activities related to giving input/advice relating to T&CM
  • Plan and coordinate activities/collaborations relating to T&CM with other government agencies, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and private sector
