Introduction: In Malaysia, 1 out of 941 births was reported to have cleft lip (CL), cleft palate
(CP), and cleft lip and palate. Cleft Evaluation Profile (CEP) is a validated method to evaluate
the satisfaction for individual features in cleft management. It has eight features: speech,
hearing, lip, nose, teeth, bite, breathing, and profile. Objective: To compare the level of
satisfaction of cleft patients’ and their parents towards cleft management in Kelantan,
Malaysia. Materials and Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted from January to
September 2016 using validated questionnaires, specifically cleft evaluation profile.
Sample was collected from consecutive patients and parents attended to Combine Cleft
Clinic Kelantan. Results: The mean scores of Cleft Evaluation Profile for the parents ranged
from 1.98-2.95, while patients ranged from 2.01-3.04. Parents gave more attention on
features related to function (teeth) while patients were more aware of facial appearance
(lip). Both parents and patients were aware of features related to facial appearance (nose
and face). More than half of parents and patients (55.1%) are satisfied with the hearing,
followed by bite (39.1%) and breathing (37.7%). Features that parents and patients not
satisfied are lips (14.5%), face (11.6%), and nose (10.2%). Conclusion: Majority (96%) of
parents and patients were satisfied with the care of cleft management team and treatment
outcome. Features related to facial appearance - nose, teeth, lip, and facial profile needed
            more attention during cleft management.
