CASE SERIES ON AMLODIPINE-INFLUENCED GINGIVAL ENLARGEMENT—A JOURNEY TO
RESTORE HEALTHY SMILE

Introduction: Gingival enlargement is an oral condition that is commonly seen in clinical
practice. Calcium channel blocker such as amlodipine could induce gingival enlargement
in susceptible individuals with periodontal disease. Case study: This case series highlights
the clinical presentation and management of five patients who presented with amlodipine
influenced gingival overgrowth. Conclusion: Early diagnosis and proper management of
amlodipine-influenced gingival enlargement is paramount to prevent further progression
of periodontal disease. In most cases, the gum overgrowth could be corrected to restore
function and aesthetic without change of medication.
