Introduction: Lymphoma has been reported previously although occurrence of the
intraoral extra nodal T cell lymphoma is relatively rare. Case report: We report a case of
non-Hodgkin lymphoma of a 79-year-old Chinese male involving swelling of right cheek
and ulceration on the right upper gingivobuccal mucosa with bony erosion of the maxilla
that had grown rapidly within previous one month. This patient had initially been
diagnosed with underlying nasal lymphoma few months back by the ENT department in
our hospital although involvement of the oral cavity were not specified at that time. Three
specimens had to be taken separately to come to a conclusive diagnosis. Latest specimen
confirmed as Oral Malignant lymphoma of T cell type. Discussion: In Malaysia, 60% of T
cell lymphoma occurred in Chinese, B cell type mostly occur in Malay, followed by Indian
being the rarest ethnic to be affected. Conclusion: Proper head and neck and oral
examination is necessary to avoid delayed diagnosis of a lesion which may turn out to be
lymphoma.
