DENTAL PRACTITIONER
Dental Practitioners provide oral health care services to the public. Dental Practitioners will perform oral examinations and diagnoses, and perform treatments such as fillings, tooth extractions, dentures, scaling and emergency treatment. A dental practitioner may refer patients who require more complex care to the relevant dental specialist.
To qualify as a dental officer, one must first obtain a basic degree in dentistry from any recognized university either locally or abroad. To practice as a dental officer in Malaysia one needs to register first with the Malaysian Dental Council. Starting from June 29, 2001, a dental officer is required to serve the government for 3 years before they are allowed to serve as a private dental practitioner.
