PERIODONTICS

Periodontics is the specialty of dentistry that focus extensively on:
- Prevention of periodontal and peri-implant diseases
- Full mouth periodontal assessment, investigation, and achievement of diagnoses
- Treatment of diseases related to tooth supporting structures (periodontium) including gum (gingiva), alveolar bone, periodontal ligament, cementum, and peri-implant (soft and hard tissues).
Treatment of periodontal and peri-implant diseases and conditions phases are as follows:
- Initial Therapy
Initial treatment to arrest the infection such as oral hygiene education, scaling and root surface debridement.
- Corrective Therapy
Treatment phase involving surgical correction of periodontal and peri-implant tissues and/or alveolar bone defect. These include complex surgical periodontal and peri-implant tissue regeneration and/or reconstructive procedures.
- Supportive Periodontal and Peri-Implant Therapy
Supportive phase for maintenance of periodontal and peri-implant health after stabilization of the diseases via continuous monitoring of oral hygiene care and risk factors.
- Oral Rehabilitation Therapy
Treatment phase where surgical procedure is performed to facilitate the construction of dental prosthesis. These include surgical placement of dental implant screw and reconstruction of alveolar ridge.
