Introduction: Management of impacted teeth remains a challenge to today’s clinician.
The use of miniscrew has expanded the span of possible mechanical traction of impacted
teeth without compromising the remaining dentition. Objective: This case report
describes management of a case with horizontally impacted upper left central incisor and
canine. Case report: A 12-year-old female presented to the clinic concerned about missing
upper front teeth. Both impacted teeth were exposed surgically with closed technique.
The impacted incisor was bonded with a gold chain and impacted canine with a modified
button with long ligature. The canine was tracted in a horizontal direction distally away
from the impacted incisor with the aid of the miniscrew. Both impacted incisor and canine
were brought into alignment after 42 months of treatment. The treatment for this patient
involved a combination of surgical procedures, orthodontic treatment, frenectomy and
gingivectomy. Conclusion: Through a collaborative effort from multidisciplinary team,
both upper left central incisor and canine were successfully brought into alignment.
