Stakeholder Engagement Meeting with National Heads of Specialties for the development of National Surgical and Anesthesia Services Performance Review (NSASPR)

On 4 June 2025 (Wednesday), an Engagement Meeting with the Head of National Expertise for the development of the National Surgical and Anaesthesia Services Performance Review (NSASPR) was held at Meeting Room 2, Level 1, Block E1, Parcel E, Federal Territory.

The meeting was chaired by Dr. Saravanan SR Sundaramurthy, Director of Health Performance Unit (HPU), Ministry of Health Malaysia (MOH) together with Dr. Faizah bt Muhamad Zin, Head of Clinical Performance, HPU MOH. Also present were Dr Theeban a/l Suntherasegarun, Ms Nik Nurdini and En. Wan Firdaus from HPU.

This meeting involved the presence of the Heads of National Specialties (Surgery, Anaesthesiology, Family Medicine and Public Health) who play an important role in the delivery of surgical care services in the field ranging from community care to tertiary care. The purpose of this meeting was to obtain views on a comprehensive "performance review" for surgery-based expertise in MOH's continuous efforts to identify and improve the quality of services for patients.

This meeting reflects the continuous commitment of HPU and MOH in efforts to strengthen the performance of health services, especially in the field of surgery and anaesthesia, for the excellence of health services for all Malaysians.

51st Annual Scientific Meeting of the College of Surgeons, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia

The 51st Annual Scientific Meeting of the College of Surgeons, Academy of Medicine of Malaysia, was successfully convened from June 13 to 15, 2025, in Kuching, Sarawak.

Dr. Faizah Muhamad Zin, Head of Clinical Performance at the Health Performance Unit (HPU) of the Ministry of Health Malaysia, was invited as a speaker to present on the National Surgical and Anaesthesia Performance Review (NSAPR) during one of the symposium sessions.

This esteemed platform served not only as a valuable opportunity for engagement and networking with the surgical community but also as a pivotal moment to introduce and raise awareness of the NSAPR initiative. The presentation underscored the Ministry’s unfaltering commitment to advancing surgical care in Malaysia through evidence-based performance review and continuous healthcare delivery improvement. Through the NSAPR, the MOH reaffirms its highest dedication to ensuring the optimisation, safety, and excellence of surgical services nationwide.
