INTRODUCTION
The Research and Evidence Based Practice Unit was established in 2016. It has been rebranded to Nursing Research Unit on November 16, 2018 due to improved functions as well as roles.
OBJECTIVES
1. General objective
The objective of this unit is to improve nursing services and delivery via research. This will result in high quality prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of patients in the field of nursing.
2. Specific Objectives
- Ensuring quality of nursing services across the country at optimal levels and meeting customer expectations by using Evidence Based Practice.
- Maintain and enhance the competency of nurses in hospital and public health facilities.
- Provide general consultation, training and nursing management services.
- Increase professionalism in accordance with the current advancement in medical services.
Functions
- To plan for nursing research strategies annually.
- To assist in planning and carrying out nursing studies at the Ministry level.
- To collect, coordinate and facilitate Investigator Initiate Research (IIR) at the MOH facilities.
- To assist in implementing, reviewing, evaluating and presenting the results of systematic reviews / rapid reviews on topics relevant to current nursing practice.
- To carry-out nursing research conferences and seminars.
- To monitor and coordinate the implementation of the Nursing Quality Assurance Review every two years.
- To hold meetings and training related to nursing research.
- To be in-charge of the publication of Nursing Division newsletter.
- To collaborate with research-related agencies such as National institute of Health (NIH), Public Universities (UA) and Private Institution of Higher Learning (IPTS) in research, training, presentation and publication of research results.
