Introduction
The Nursing Division conducts 10 examinations per year; the Examination for entry into the General Part and Supplementary Part of the Register.
The Nursing Diploma Program is conducted 4 times a year ( March, June , September and December ), Advanced Diploma in Midwifery Program Part 1 for 2 times a year ( March and September ), Community Nursing Program, 2 times a year (June and December ) and Program Assistant Nurse for 2 times a year (May and November).
The examination unit, Nursing Board / Midwifery Board Malaysia is responsible for managing the process of application to the marking and declaration of results. It is also responsible for maintaining standards, validity and integrity of LJM / LBM examination for the purpose of registration in the General Part / Supplementary Parts of the Register.
Objective
Maintaining standards, validity and integrity of examinations conducted by Nursing Board Malaysia/Midwifery Board Malaysia for the purpose of registration in the General Part / Supplementary Part of the Register.
Functions
- Plan examination schedule and manage examination processes for all nursing programmes according to set guidelines and regulations, for the purpose of admission into the General Part/Supplementary Part of the Register.
- Coordinate sessions in the setting and editing of examination questions for all nurse training programmes under the Ministry Of Health and private nursing institutions.
- Appoint external and internal examiners to observe the conduct of LJM/LBM examination for all the nursing programmes.
- Monitor the conduct of examinations in all nursing colleges under MOH, Public and Private Institutions of Higher Learning conducting the nursing programs.
- Process and analyse examination results for all nursing programs conducted by the Nursing Division.
- Announcement of the LJM/LBM examination results to the Training Division, Human Resource Division, MOH; the Public and Private Institutions of Higher Learning conducting the nursing programs.
- Presentation of results to members of the “Jawatankuasa Pelajaran dan Peperiksaan” (JKPP), Malaysian Nursing Board & Midwifery Board Malaysia.
- Management of appeals to re-check examination papers.
- Management of appeals to re-sit for examination papers.
- Functions as the secretariat for the Malaysia Nursing Board & Midwifery Board Malaysia Examination.

Conduct of Nursing Board Examinations for Nurse Registration
- All nursing programmes must be accreditated before a student can sit for the Nursing Board/Midwifery Board examination.
- The Malaysian Nursing Board Examination is a requirement for nurse registration with the Malaysian Nursing Board/Midwifery Board Malaysia.
- The Examination schedule of examination is as listed in the nursing portal.
- All candidates who wish to apply for registration must acquire the clinical competence as stipulated by the Board, successfully completed an education program and pass the college final examination.
- Student nurses are only allowed 42 days sick leave over the three years traning program. Candidates shall be barred from taking the Nurses Final Examination if the sick leave is more than 42 days. Student Assistant Nurses will be allowed 28 days sick leave over the two-year training period.
- All sick leave that have exceeded must be replaced.
Re-Sit of Examination
- For all the Nursing programmes, candidates may re-sit the Nursing Board/Midwifery Board Examination for three times.
- Candidates who have failed the Diploma program examination, will have to resit the examination within 6 years from the time of admission to the program.
- Application to re-sit for examination must be made via the respective nursing colleges.
