FAQS

Answer: No. Officers who successfully complete SIG training and perform gastrointestinal endoscopy procedures will not receive special incentives. This is because this training provides additional skills (upskilling) to officers in carrying out their daily duties.

Answer: If complications occur with the patient, after performing the necessary clinical matters, the officer must report to the nearest gastroenterologist who is then required to inform the SIG committee for records and further follow-up actions. Clinical matters related to the patient must be managed immediately according to clinical judgment.

Answer: During training, officers are required to meet strict requirements as outlined in the training module. The SIG endoscopy committee (SIG committee) will determine whether officers are eligible for a certificate of completion and credentialing. After that, their performance will be monitored through the number of procedures performed and complications that arise through the MGIR endoscopy registry. Their performance will also be assessed from time to time through feedback interviews by the SIG committee with the endoscopy staff and those involved in the hospital where the officer performs the procedure.
